I’ve been following the handheld gaming scene for years, and the Steam Deck has brought an unprecedented shift to the market. Valve dared to combine PC gaming with console portability, something that looked far-fetched a few years ago.
After six months of using mine daily, I can say it’s not just a novelty—it’s a legitimate option for hardcore and casual gamers alike. From playing Elden Ring on the go to indie gems like Hades, the compatibility and performance are beyond what I expected.
Battery life is admittedly not its strongest point, and yes, it can get warm under load. But the performance per dollar makes up for that. Paired with a dock, it’s even replaced my desktop for casual hours.
Is anyone else finding the Steam Deck unexpectedly versatile? What accessories or tweaks have seriously improved your use?
